Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site Review: The Welcome
Approach the site slowly, because the entrance road feels narrow with a caravan in tow. However, once we arrived, check-in felt quick and friendly. The wardens gave us what we needed without any fuss, which suited the overall tone of the site. Consequently, the first impression matched the rest of the stay: calm, simple, and practical.
The Pitch Quality
Settle onto your pitch quickly, because the layout feels easy enough to navigate. Our pitch was basic and non-serviced, so expect a proper back-to-basics setup rather than anything polished. Thankfully, we did not need to level the caravan, which made arrival easier. After that, hook up to the electric and collect water from the communal taps. Although that means a few extra jobs, the process felt manageable and in keeping with the simple nature of the site.
Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site Review: The Facilities
Head over to the facilities block with realistic expectations. Straight away, everything looked clean and well cared for. The toilets felt basic, yet they stayed tidy and practical throughout our stay. Likewise, the showers were hot, which always makes a difference after a day out. There was also a laundry, so longer stays would be easier to manage.
Use the dishwashing area around the back of the building if needed. Similarly, find the recycling and waste points simple enough to use. This site does not offer lots of extras, and that is worth knowing before you book. Instead, it covers the essentials well and keeps everything clean. So, if you value practicality over frills, the facilities do the job.
Location and Days Out
Use Wolverley as a base and you will get the best from it. Walk straight onto the canal towpath from the site and enjoy the slower pace almost immediately. Soon after, watch narrowboats move along the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal or head towards Kidderminster for a longer walk. Similarly, explore Wolverley village and spot old buildings set into the sandstone cliffs. We also used the site for a show visit, which we covered in our earlier NEC Show Base post. The NEC sat under forty minutes away, so it worked well for busy days too.
Keep meals simple, because there is no restaurant or bar on site. Most of the time, we cooked in our home on wheels or headed out nearby. One easy option was The Lock Inn, right by the canal. For other days out, visit the Severn Valley Railway or spend time at West Midland Safari Park. As a result, the location gives you good variety, even though the site itself stays firmly basic.
